People always ask me, "you must be so excited that it is almost summer!" Every time I hear the word summer my stomach does a little flip. True, summer will be wonderful and filled with family time. However, come September, these sweet little faces will not be "mine" and will be replaced with a new batch of precious children. I grow so attached to our little classroom family throughout the year that 180 days is done before I know it! The other day a lady asked me, "how many children do you have," while I was browsing in the store. Without missing a beat I responded with, "I have 26. 23 are with me for the whole day." The wide-eyed look that I got in return as she studied my two personal children was priceless. I quickly realized my mistake and corrected myself. I think she was attempting to do the math (and maybe wondered what I did with the other 3?). Needless to say, I will miss my "kids" over the summer and into the next year. I know they are ready to tackle 4th grade and will do it wonderfully! Please take a moment to view the wonderful learning that has been done with our hearts this year. These kids are full of acts of service. They have strong hands and willing hearts. I am one proud teacher!
