This will be my 11th year in education. I received my bachelors degree from Western Michigan (GO BRONCOS!) and also have a master's degree in reading instruction. My first three years as an educator was in South Carolina. The rest of my career has taken place right here at Park Elementary School. Teaching has always been my passion. From the time I was small I was playing school. I feel so fortunate to be able to do what I love and call it a career! I am a mom and wife as well. I have three beautiful children; Jackson who is 6 and a first grader at Park, Avery who is 4, and Evelyn who is 1. We spend a lot of time exploring the outdoors, playing games, and being active together. My husband is a principal in Byron Center, so we have a lot of fun talking school at home! Additional Info: In our classroom we will be using flexible seating. Flexible seating allows for students to make responsible choices throughout the day about where they would like to learn. Some students feel most comfortable laying on their belly while reading a book, while others may prefer to sit on a pillow on the floor. The freedom to choose allows students the opportunity to really own their learning and helps them to reflect on how they learn best. Students tend to work more efficiently and quietly when using flexible seating. Students will have a "home base" seat that they will use first thing in the morning as well as when we enter the classroom from lunch, recess or special.
