Holiday Program
Our Holiday Program is this Tuesday, December 11th at 7:30. Please plan to have your child to Fellowship early so that we can pass out props and get into our music order! When we are finished, please pick your child up where you dropped them off. Holiday Hope What an amazing shopping trip we had! Thank you so much for all of your support as we work to provide a magical Christmas to a Hudsonville family. I love the way the kids' faces light up when they share what the purchased! I can't wait to talk about it tomorrow morning and have the kids share what we bought. If you purchased something on your own, please send it in with your child before Friday! We will be wrapping gifts on Friday at 11:15! I am in need of a few items to help this process along.
Bowling Party Our bowling party that we won from the food drive will be on December 21st. We will be heading to Hudsonville Lanes at lunch time where we will enjoy some pizza and a few games of bowling! When we return to school around 2:00, we will be watching the Polar Express and eating our yummy treats. If you signed up to bring a treat for our holiday party, I will be sending you an email reminder shortly! Curriculum We are in the process of wrapping up a lot of units as we prepare for break. We will be taking our math test Monday and Tuesday on unit 2 (multiplication and division). Following our test, we will do a few days of review, take the STAR360 test (so that we can track growth), and then engage in a week of intentional math that is designed to deepen mathematical thinking. We have drafted and celebrated our final drafts in opinion writing and will be post assessing on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Students will be working on showing all they know about thesis statements, paragraphing, and opinion writing. We are finishing our Mystery unit in reading by working on summarizing. We are using the strategy: Somebody, wanted, but, so, then...as a way to summarize the important parts of a story. Students are doing this within our read aloud as well as in their personal books. We are now able to read all genres of books during workshop time and students are very happy about that! Students have been working very hard on their economics projects. They have taken out a $50 loan to create products that they are able to sell. They have been carefully spending, tracking, and creating over the last week. We are now ready to set a price, create a storefront, write a slogan, and make and advertisement. We will be shopping at these stores as a whole 3rd grade group this week.
