I hope you all had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather! As I was out for my run on Saturday, I noticed a large number of cars pulling into the baseball/softball fields. This reminded me that SPRING HAS SPRUNG and it is time to watch some more games! If your child has a schedule of any kind (games, plays, recitals), please let me know dates and times. I would love to cheer these kiddos on outside of school as well if I can make it fit within my family's schedule!
Many of you mentioned different placement ideas for next year for your child. As class lists are built we have many different things to consider to ensure that we have built the best classes we could. I do my best to honor requests, though I can't make any guarantees on exact placement. I can tell you that we work hard as a third grade team to build equitable classes that will meet all students' needs! This coming weekend we have our Kids' Food Basket event on April 26th from 4:00 - 5:00. I will email all who have signed up for this event with a reminder and an address. Do keep in mind that space is limited so I ask that each child come with only one adult! We are also in the process of deciding on our spring project for the year. Details will be coming home shortly! Math: This week we will be finishing up our geometry unit. We will be continuing to focus on area and perimeter word problems. We will review and test the following week. Science: This week we will be beginning our recycling unit. Students will discuss ways to make changes that can help the earth. We will also be talking about the California drought and how it can be helped. Social Studies: For the remainder of the year we will have both science and social studies each day. Grammar will now be taught (reviewed) within our writing workshop. In social studies we will be discussing economics. We will be focusing on goods and services as well as supply and demand. Writing: Students have begun to research their Michigan city. We will wrap up research this week and begin to draft our paragraphs. Reading: We will continue with our social issues unit this week. Students will be looking for social issues to arise in their own books and investigate how their character is effected. Reminders: PE - Tuesday and Friday Parent Club Meeting - Tuesday @7:30pm KFB - Sunday @ 4:00 - 5:00
