Thank you for coming to celebrate all of our amazing writing! That was some hard work getting all of that writing in with our lovely snow days that kept popping up! The students did a truly remarkable job.
We have many things going on between now and spring break! Please carefully read through and let me know if you have any questions. Kids' Food Basket Our Kids' Food Basket event will be taking place on March 2nd at 12:30. If you are planning to attend, please be sure to fill out the form on Kids' Food Basket so that they have you registered. www.kidsfoodbasket.volunteerhub.com Make sure to use your name, not your child's. I have many openings and I am sure they have lots of important work for us to do! Family Book Club It is finally time for our family book club. Please take a moment to read over the form that is coming home. Our first book will be Word of Mouse by James Patterson. I adore this book and the message it sends! We will meet on April 11th from 6:30 - 7:30 in the school library. Curriculum Upate Writing - We will be launching into our literary essay unit. Students will be investigating character traits and themes within the book Because of Winn-Dixie and will write and essay based on their findings. Math - We are working on fractions now! Students are expected to know what a fraction is, compare fractions (with same numerator or same denominator), plot on a number line, and create equivalence chains. Social Studies - We will finish up talking about explorers and will begin thinking about pioneers in Michigan. Reading - We are now working on characters. We will be using the book Because of Winn-Dixie to investigate the growth of a character. Focus Questions: * What is a denominator? What does it tell you? * What is a character trait of Opal? * Tell me one thing you know about Father Marquette.
