Last week we had a chance to meet with our reading buddies for the very first time. These buddies come from Mr.Weber's classroom. The third graders are reading with them once a week and encouraging them to use the strategies that they have been taught. I really loved hearing a student say, "man, being a teacher is hard work!" after the kids left! This really made me smile! :)
This week is a major wrap up week for us. We are in the process of editing and publishing our final drafts in writing, reviewing in math, and wrapping up our first unit in reading. With that being said, we will be celebrating our success this week quite a bit! I am very impressed by the strides that have already been made this year with this group of students. Halloween: We have landed on a plan for Halloween! We will be having our parade to the Laurels at 9:20. Please plan to send your child to school dressed in their costume and ready to go. We will be heading out to our parade quickly and then taking our costumes off when we return to school. Be sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing underneath their costume so it can easily be removed (if it is a costume that needs to come off). Our Halloween party will begin at 2:10 and go until 3:00. You are welcome to join us for the party! I will be sending home notes soon to those who volunteered to bring something. You are welcome to take your child home following our party to get a head start on your own Halloween festivities. We will be watching a movie starting at 3:00 while we work on getting the room back in order. Bonus Questions (jot a note in your child's agenda after you ask them!) * What did you write about in writing? What is a good title for your story? * Have you been filling out your reading log at school and at home? If not, grab a new one!! * Solve 14x3 using the distributive property
