Our Kids' Food Basket service project was so much fun! Thank you so much for coming to support this wonderful program. We learned that Nearly 7,000 students each school day are receiving sack suppers from KFB. That is a lot of food! We even learned that KFB has about 200 volunteers a day to be able to keep up that incredible pace. We were told a story about a boy who had begun to collect all of the decorated bags that he received with his supper each day. He papered his walls with these bags saying that it represented people who love him. Park decorated bags around Thanksgiving time. It is pretty neat to think that our bags could have lifted spirits as well. What an inspiring program! We were assigned to make trail mix that would later be packed into the sack suppers. We quickly washed our hands, slipped on our gloves, put on our fancy hairnets, and set to work. Our trail mix was made up of Cheese-Its, Cheerios, craisins, and raisins. We mixed together the mix and packaged it into small snack bags before placing it on the shelves. It is likely that our trail mix will be packed up tomorrow and be in those 7,000 sack suppers! Following our production, we all went over to the wall where we were asked to add our names. Some students even were able to write their names in the cooler! Curriculum Update: PE - Wed.
