As March starts to wind down, it seems that we are gaining speed! We have many things coming up that will provide us with loads of fun!
On Friday, March 25th @ 2:15pm we have our Lucky To Have You VIP event taking place. Thank you for responding with your child's VIP person! If you were unable to locate someone, please let me know. We have many special people in the school that would love to be a VIP! If you have a food item donation, please send it in with your child the morning of March 25th. If you have a decoration item or non-food item, please send it in on Thursday so that we can start to prep our room! We are really looking forward to the chance to celebrate the important people in our lives! On March 29th we will be having our third grade book exchange. Your child should bring in 1-3 books, that they have already enjoyed, to exchange for new ones. Remember, these books are not to be new! Simply pick out a third/fourth grade level book that your child has already read and send it in. The kids will receive a ticket for each book that they exchange and will be able to "shop" for a new one. This will be a great way to get a new book before Spring Break begins! On March 30th, we will be heading down to the ECC to read to Mrs.Harmon's preschool class. We will be leaving right after school begins and returning around 10am. Please be sure to have your kiddos to school on time as we will not be waiting for late arrivals. We will be walking there and back so be sure your child is wearing comfortable footwear and an appropriate jacket. We can't wait to share our love of reading with the little ones! I would like to host a book club coming up. A survey will be sent to you to give you an option for dates. Please select what works best for you and I will choose the most popular. Our book will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the party will be a blast! Curriculum: Math: We will be working on area and perimeter for the next few weeks. This is a VERY tricky concept that takes a lot of practice. Many of the problems that students will be working on will be in word problem form. Be sure to practice on the homework pages that come home! Science: We have finished light and are moving onto sound. This week we will be investigating how sound moves, learning about echoes, and talking about pitch. Writing: This week we will be working on drafting our body paragraphs to our opinion writing. Students are trying to convince a little girl that Michigan is a great place to live. We have taken a few "tastes" of Michigan so far (Better Made & Faygo) , and will be trying a few more this week! Reading: Students will continue to use their skill of connecting the text to their schema to form an inference.
