This week we will be embarking on a new adventure in Google Docs. Students will be publishing their realistic fiction stories in their Google Docs here at school. This will allow for easy sharing, editing, and commenting. I will be able to give quick feedback while students are working and they will be able to make neat changes. Students will be able to access their Google Docs from home which will make finishing up any additional work at home easy! I will send home some more information about how to access these Google Docs this week!
We are done with our tricky multistep word problem unit. I was so impressed with how well students did on this test. They worked like true detectives finding evidence, solving the problem, and closing the case with the correct label. All students have officially earned their mustache on their detective photo. They are now working towards earning their detective hat! I am so proud of them! On Friday we will be having a Detective Day to celebrate how well students did with this unit. I encourage students to dress like a detective and come to school ready to solve some fun cases! Math: This week we will be beginning our geometry unit. This unit contains a lot of vocabulary! I will be providing students with a baggie to contain their vocabulary. Please practice these vocab words each night with your child! Science: This week we will wrap up our light unit. We will be talking about absorption, and reflection as well as reviewing the previous concepts. Next week we will begin with sound. Grammar: This week we are working through our grammar list, double checking what we need to work more on. We will be looking at apostrophes in contractions this week as well as practicing identifying proper nouns. Writing: We will be publishing on Google Docs this week! Reading: This week we will be practicing properly responding to our reading. Students will be working on using evidence from text to support their answers. Reminders: PE - Monday & Thursday Thursday - Skating party @ 6:30 Friday - Detective Day Book Club - May 14th 6-7 (Ask Mrs.Gitler for the book!)
