The beautiful weather is starting to roll in and we are preparing to kiss winter goodbye! This can only mean one thing...MARCH which also means it is time for Reading Month! We have a lot of fun planned over the next few weeks along with a whole lot of learning. This week we will have D.E.A.R. day (Drop Everything and Read), as well as "Hats Off the Reading" day on Friday (wear a readable hat). Next week we will have Danielle Garcia, State Representative, reading to our class. SO much fun packed in! I will keep you posted on events as we go through the month.
We also have our VIP day coming up on March 25th. The time was originally listed as 2:30, but I would like to change that time to 2:15 to be sure we have ample time. I have a few more forms coming in and will send home donation information on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. If you are willing to donate more than one item, please send me a quick email. We are doing pretty well, but may need a few more items. Thank you so much for your help in making our VIP day an event to remember! Conferences are scheduled for March 14, 16, and 17th. Forms have gone home to confirm date and time. If you are unsure of when your conference is, please send me an email and I will confirm for you. Report cards are scheduled to come home on Friday! This week I will be sending home a book club invite. We will be planning on celebrating Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the BEST party!). I will send home a form that gives options for dates. We will see what date works best for the majority of people who wish to read the book and participate! Please send the form back if you plan to attend, or wish to attend! Math: I am so proud of our class! I had some of the highest scores ever for our fractions unit! The kids worked so hard on understanding those tricky number lines. We will be starting our next unit, Polygons, Area and Perimeter, this week. Science: We have started our light and sound unit. This week we will be focused on light! Ask your child about what they are learning and watch for papers to come home. Writing: We will be starting our next unit, Opinion/Essays. Students will be taking a stance on a public issue and proving why they feel the way that they do. Reading: Students will be making inferences this week in reading. We will also be practicing how to respond to our reading. Reminders: PE- Thursday Conferences - March 14, 16, 17 VIP day - March 25th @ 2:15
