We are in the process of wrapping up a lot of things right now! This week we will be taking our Unit 1 math test, publishing our writing, and beginning a new reading unit. Please be sure to check out our curriculum update below for more details. Please be sure that you are practicing facts for 10 minutes each night! Students can practice these facts using an app as well, but I suggest first focusing on being able to flip through the flashcards. If students are having a hard time passing their tests for multiple weeks in a row, we will switch to an alternate plan (multiplication only first, followed by the division). By the end of third grade it is expected that students know their multiplication and division facts by memory. I will be out this week on Tuesday for a Michigan Math Educators conference. I will be out of the classroom (still in the building) on Wednesday to complete reading tests. If you have any information that you need to get to your student, please email or call Mrs.Lidgard! ** BONUS - Have your child write one thing they like about 3rd grade in their agenda! They will earn an extra Michigan Buck!** CurriculumWriting - This week we will be editing and publishing our personal narrative stories. We will be celebrating later in the week.
Social Studies - We will be using our Studies Weekly newspapers to explore our state. This week we will learn about Michigan's Government. Math - We will be reviewing all that we have learned about multiplication and division so far. We will be testing on Thursday. Our next unit will be more multiplication and division with a focus on more complex problems. Reading - This week we will be beginning our "Following Characters into Meaning" unit. We will be using Because of Winn-Dixie to explore this unit further. Students will also be working on meeting their first trimester goals. Reminders: * PE - Tuesday * Mrs.Gitler out Tuesday and Wednesday * Please turn in conference forms * Early release November 3rd
