Last WeekWe had a wonderful (short) week last week filled with learning and celebrations. Last week we launched our new math workshop and the kids did great! This model allows for students to receive the instruction that they need as well as providing them with exploration time and independent work time. I am very excited about this new model and look forward to enhancing our math units. Our Halloween party was a blast! We enjoyed a ghost passing game, pictionary, and game that tested our memory. Thank to all who sent in the yummy treats! The students really indulged and enjoyed each and every treat. Rake & RunOn Friday we have our Rake and Run. Our first house will be located on 36th ave. and the next will be on Lawndale. I will send home additional information about the location of the homes this week so that you are aware of exactly where we are. We are in major need of paper lawn bags. Paper is really important because if they are plastic we will need to rip them open when we deposit them. Please be sure to turn in your permission slip if you plan on having your child attend. If you are loaning a rake but will not be attending, please send it in with your child. Be sure that it has your name on it so it can be returned to you! Parents who are volunteering will meet us in our classroom and the end of the day on Friday. Parents who are not attending will pick their child up at the front of the school at 5:30. CurriculumMath: This week we will be running a full math workshop. We will continue to work on multiplication word problems this week.
Science: This week we will continue to learn about plant adaptations. Students will be exploring plants in their different habitats and how they have adapted to survive. Writing: We will continue our opinion writing this week. We will learn about thesis statements and use boxes and bullets to plan our writing.
