The weather sure has things all wacky these days! I bet you had some pretty excited kids these last few days. Please encourage your kiddo to keep up with their reading since we will not be getting as much academic time in. Aim for 20-30 minutes a day and ask your child to share what their story is about.
Please be sure to fill out the background check if you haven't yet! This will ensure that you can attend all school events in the future. Thank you for taking the time to do this! I had a wonderful opportunity to catch a hockey game of one of my students this weekend. I just love seeing kids in their element! If your child is in any extra curricular, sports or otherwise, send me their schedule. I would love to try and stop in and cheer them on! Curriculum: Math: We continue to work on our measurement unit. We will be moving off of time for now, though practice is still so important. We will be working on reading and answering questions related to graphs this week. Reading: We continue to work on our Reading to Learn unit. Students are working on deepening their talk about the text as well as being able to find the main idea and supporting details. Writing: Students are well into their chapters for their informational books. I am so impressed with the writing these kids are doing! They have done an excellent job using their boxes and bullets. Social Studies: We will be continuing our work with history. This week we will talk about the Great Lakes Fur Trade and how this changed the lives of Native Americans. Questions: * What are your chapters about in your informational writing? * What is one thing you have learned about Native Americans? * What is one book you really want to read?
